48th ILK meeting

The 48th ILK meeting was held on February, 29th, 2008, in Munich.

Dr. Bruestle (LGRB Freiburg, Germany) and Mr. Schwarz (EnKK, Germany) held talks on the topic “Assessment of seismic hazard”, in particular with regard to potential insights from probabilistic seismic hazard analyses, e.g. the PEGASOS project and the analysis for GKN I within the framework of the Periodic Safety Review. Subsequently, the further steps to be taken for the deliberation of this topic were agreed upon.

Deliberations on the document “Fundamental safety requirements for nuclear power plants”, published by the ILK in January, were postponed to the next ILK meeting as comments on this document can still be handed in until the end of March.

Mr. Vamos (IAEA, Austria) gave a presentation on the topic “Safety culture: Insights from OSART missions”. The ILK will continue its deliberation of the topic “Safety culture” at the next ILK meeting.

Mr. Schwarz (EnKK, Germany) presented a report on “Knowledge management and maintaining know-how in nuclear engineering”; subsequently it was decided how to continue the deliberation of this topic.

The ILK members Jean-Claude Chevallon (France), Winfried Hacker (Germany) and Antero Tamminen (Finland) were reappointed as ILK members.

The next ILK meeting is scheduled for July 2nd, 2008.
